FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
Every year, the deadline is February 1st, for both forms and payments. Acts will not be officially entered until payment is made. There is a discount if you are paid in full, on or before January 1st.
HOW DO WE REGISTER?
After viewing the rules, go to www.roadtobroadwayminidancecompetition.com/rules-forms.html for information to register and registration forms.
DO YOU ACCEPT INDEPENDENT ENTRIES?
Yes, independent entries are accepted. They cannot enter if their studio is already attending, so they must make sure that it is not a conflict. Many times, independent dancers take classes from many schools, so we welcome them with open arms.
WHEN WILL THE SCHEDULE BE POSTED?
Starting about 3 weeks before the competition, the schedule is sent out, via email, to studios and independent dancers, as a first draft. This will give everyone a time to address issues, like costume changes, etc. The schedule will be sent out, again, to make adjustments if needed, for 2 more weeks. The final schedule is sent out about 1 week prior to the competition. Once finalized, there will be no changes as everyone has had time to address any problems or corrections.
HOW DO I RECEIVE MY SCORE SHEETS?
Score sheets are available at the end of the competition, to the studio owners, and independent entries.
WHERE CAN I VIEW THE PICTURES OF THE COMPETITION?
All photos will be shared with the studios, and independent entries, at no cost, once they we receive them from the photographers. We allow spectators to take NON-FLASH photos, as to not interfere with the photographers, and videos, but ONLY of your own dances. We do not offer videos.
ARE THERE REFUNDS FOR DANCES THAT ARE DROPPED?
There are no refunds, but if a student is sick, or injured, a doctor’s note will be required to receive a credit for the following year.
WHEN DO I NEED TO ARRIVE AT THE COMPETITION?
Please ask your studio director to find out when he, or she, wants you to arrive at the competition. Because we have the right to run up to one hour early, we ask that all dancers be ready to dance at least 1 hour prior to their scheduled time. Anyone in the audience hoping to watch a particular dancer should be there 1 hour ahead of time as well.
WHERE IS THE LOCATION OF THE COMPETITION?
We run the competition at the East Greenville Fire Company Banquet Hall, at 401 Washington Street, East Greenville, Pa. 18041. Parking is across the street from the main doors, not in back.
WHAT IF I HAVE A ROUTINE WITH MIXED LEVELS OF DANCERS?
The competition director will average the levels of each dance. Please check the rules for allowed age spread.
DO YOU HAVE LEVELS?
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional and Angel Divisions. Angel is for those with physical challenges. Please check the rules at www.roadtobroadwayminidancecompetition.com/rules-2024.html
WHAT IS THE CUT OFF DATE FOR THE AGES CATEGORIES?
All ages, including solos, are calculated as of 2nd day of competition. Age groups are 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, 17-20, 21-35, 36+. There are no solos for ages under 5. Age 3 is the lowest allowed in other dances.
ARE THERE FEES FOR SPECTATORS?
Yes, $2 per person, or donation to the food bank for The Open Link. Non-perishable items, unexpired, only. Additionally, checks can be made out to The Open Link for any amount.
DO ALL OF THE DANCER RECEIVE AWARDS?
All acts will be adjudicated and awarded after each time block.
The judges give up to 50 points per act, then the 3 scores are averaged.
INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED: BEGINNER/ANGEL:
Platinum 47-50 Platinum 46-50
Gold 42-46 Gold 39-45
Silver 31-41 Silver 29-38
Bronze 30 or less Bronze 28 or less
Additionally, acts that are in a division with 3 or more entered (example: 12-14 Solo Tap Intermediate) will also receive ordinal awards of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.. The judges will give special awards after each time block. High score, title and other awards will be awarded at the final awards.There will also be People’s Choice Awards, chosen by the audience.
AM I ABLE TO BRING FOOD AND DRINK?
Yes, but please clean up items as soon as you are done in the available trash bins. There are several places to dine in, or take out, nearby. Please do not bring large coolers into the facility, there is not enough room. Anything that fits under a chair is acceptable. Food and drinks, expect for water, are not allowed in the dressing rooms.
There will be a break after each time block, for time to eat lunch and dinner, each day.
ARE ALL OF THE AWARDS DONE AT THE END OF THE 2ND DAY?
We spread out awards, throughout the weekend, after each time block. The final awards, on Sunday, take a little longer to tabulate, because of all of the high score awards, but the other award ceremonies are no longer than 30 minutes.
