Dear friends of R2B Mini Dance Competition,

I pray that you are all well and that you survived 2020, a year none of us will ever forget.
I am also wishing you a better, and happier, new year. We all are hoping that it will be.

Here are some things that I plan on doing to keep everyone safe. If you have any other suggestions, I am open to everything!

Please download the "Release Form", above. All attending, including spectators, must sign.

Thank you for understanding and stay safe!

Sincerely,
Janet LaCava

Studio block scheduling - Please note that studios with less than 10 entries, and independent entries, could be combined and scheduled together. There will be time between each studio for us to sanitize for the next studio.

Limited spectators - We will follow each state’s restrictions and also consider our judge’s and staff’s best interests to determine a limit of people in a building/area at a given time. At this time, no more than one parent/guardian per dancer in the dressing room, and no children who are not performing. We kindly ask you to limit the number of friends and family who will attend as audience member. You can always share the competition with friends and family with your phone, tablet or videos.

Those in high risk categories are not recommended to attend (including, but not limited to, those over the age of 65, those who are, or may be pregnant, and those with compromised immune systems.

If you or anyone you’ve been in contact with someone who has been exposed to Covid-19 within a 14-day window of the event, and/or you are feeling ill or are exhibiting symptoms, we ask you refrain from attending the event.

It is recommended that all attendees check their temperature daily (unless otherwise required by venue or mandate to enter the event).

If you, or anyone you’ve been in contact with, has been exposed to Covie-19 within a 14-day window of the event, and/or you are feeling ill or are exhibiting symptoms, we as that you refrain from attending the event.

Everyone is required to wear masks, including staff and dancers, to cover noses and mouths. No one, no matter the reason, will be admitted without one. Anyone who cannot keep their nose covered must wear a mask over their mouth and a face shield.

It is up to the studio if dancers will wear masks while dancing but must immediately put them back on. Each dancer is required to bring a pre-labeled bag, for their mask, with their name on it to leave on a designated table while they are performing. We will sanitize the table after.

Children, who are not performing, or babies, it is requested that they do not attend.
Adjudicated awards (P, G, S, B) will be awarded for those acts, and any ordinals (1st, 2nd, 3rd) for any divisions that are done. Any overall awards will be presented, via email or live stream, and awards mailed/shipped to the studios.

Award ceremonies will be socially distanced with ONLY ONE representative from each studio accepting all of the studio’s awards.

To keep the competition on schedule, due to delays caused by costume changes and spacing between schools, only one judge will give a verbal critique, but they will all write their corrections on the score sheets.

There will be no food sales, vendors, or costume sales, at this time. You are allowed to bring in your own food and drink. It is also suggested, but not required, that you bring your own trash bag for your food waste. Once done, you can close them and place in our trash bins.

We can suggest but cannot enforce, getting the anti-Covid inoculations. I plan to be inoculated.

Programs will be emailed and none will be printed. Everyone can print their own or use a digital copy on their phones, computers, or pads.

Sanitization will be done throughout the event for any surface used for the event in between studio blocks. Sanitizing wipes, and/or spray will be available to you, but we suggest also bringing your own.
Please do not enter the Banquet Hall until your time slot, and please have all of your students, staff, and families, leave the premises as soon as you are done, in order for us to sanitize for the next group.

There will only be 2 dressing rooms, one for the females, and one for males. The portable dressing room will not be assembled, this time around. We will have air sanitizers in the dressing rooms.

The bathroom near the stage area will be off-limits to everyone but the staff. The lobby bathroom and the downstairs’ bathrooms will be open.

We will be leaving hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes around the area. Please use some upon entry and if you need it at other times. We suggest that you also bring your own as back up.

All studios will be required to submit a waiver for everyone attending. A signature is required for all dancers, teaching staff, studio owners, and spectators, either by a parent/legal guardian, or themselves, if age 18 or older. The studio director will also be required to sign off on the form acknowledging that all signatures are accounted for. Please go to the website to download and print the waiver. Make sure all in attendance sign it and turn it in before, or on the competition date.

Judges WILL NOT deduct points from any performer on stage wearing masks, gloves or any other health and safety articles. In addition, judges WILL NOT deduct points if your studio opts to not wear costumes (and rather chooses to wear a uniform look). All costumes will be given a perfect score. If you or your studio has chosen to perform in costume, it is required that all dancers arrive in their first costume, with their hair and makeup ready.

For the safety of the attendees, gathering outside of the event (i.e. sidewalks & parking lots) is not suggested. We ask that anyone waiting outside of the event stay in their car.

Please limit the amount of people who handle or go near props. Any that the dancers must touch, should be thoroughly disinfected.

Federal, state, and local mandates may change before the competition date. If so, you will be notified.

We thank you for your positivity as our team is working vigorously to maintain all CDC and government guidelines. Updates or specific changes to policy will be directly communicated with the studio owner prior to the event and updated on this document.

If you have any questions, please email us at info@roadtobroadwayminidancecompetition.com.
